Vision

To be the most trusted marine transportation companies, with the greatest protection for the isolated communities of the south of Chile, ensuring the satisfaction of our clients, employees and stock holders, and projecting a sustainable growth over time, through the continued improvements and the application of new technology.

Mission

With the deep social commitment that characterizes them, both companies point towards strengthening the transportation of cargo and passengers in the southern zone of the country, improving the quality of service, contributing to the economic development in the region and reaffirming their commitment to the connectivity of the Lakes Region.

History

In 1939 the first steamships began to embark from Puerto Montt to the south to connect the most southern inhabitants of the tenth and eleventh regions. Over 60 hours of navigating through the dangerous waters of the Guaitecas archipelago, they arrived to Aysén Port. And so began the transportation of cargo and passengers through the southern canals, an undertaking that has continued evolving constantly in order to offer a better service to the needs of the population.

In 1971, Transmarchilay S.A. was created, which in 1999 became part of the international company CPT Empresas Marítimas S.A. In July of 2005, Transmarchilay S.A. and Nisa Navegación S.A came together to become Naviera Austral S.A., whose stocks were shared equally. Then in 2009 Transmarchilay S.A. became associated with Mr. Luis Rigoberto Paredes Muñoz to give origen to Transportes Puelche S.A., with the purpose of connecting the communities of Puqueldón (route Chulchuy-Huicha) and the Lakes Region (Lake Tagua Tagua, and connections between Calbuco-Isla Puluqui and Maullín-La Pasada).

That same year, the new company, with Rigoberto Paredes and Naviera Austral S.A., would become Transportes Austral, to create solutions to the connectivity issues of Route 7, uniting Caleta La Arena with Caleta Puelche in the route of the Reloncaví estuary, as well as covering the route of Hornopirén-Ayacara-Chaitén. And so the companies with more than 30 years of experience with transportation of loaded cargo and passengers, came together to create new alternatives to mobility, safety, and comfort in the diverse locations of the Lakes Region and the Austral Highway.
